ClearCue is a set of timing tools for video editing. It helps you see timing relationships, make structure explicit, and use that structure however your workflow requires.
What is FrameFit?+
FrameFit helps you understand the relationship between frame rate, tempo and timing. It shows which timing relationships align cleanly with your timeline and where drift or uneven spacing may occur.
What is TimeVisualiser?+
TimeVisualiser turns timing structures into reusable TimeObjects (visual guides) that you can place directly on your editing timeline. They make pacing, subdivisions, and timing relationships visible while you work.
Do I need to use FrameFit and TimeVisualiser together?+
No. Each tool can be useful independently. FrameFit helps you understand timing relationships; TimeVisualiser lets you turn a chosen structure into something you can work with directly on your timeline.
Do I need to choose music first?+
No. You can build timing and pacing before choosing any music at all. You can then edit to the structure, choose music that fits it, brief a composer, use it to guide generated music, or combine it with other timing systems.
Does ClearCue tell me how to edit?+
No. ClearCue makes timing visible. What you do with that structure remains an editorial decision.
Can I use more than one timing structure in an edit?+
Yes. Timing guides are reusable media assets, so you can place multiple structures on different tracks and use them for different purposes, such as pacing, captions, picture changes, music, or other events.
Can I use ClearCue with beat detection?+
Yes. They solve different problems. Beat detection identifies events in existing audio; ClearCue can provide a broader timing structure around which those events, and the rest of the edit, can be organised.
Can I use ClearCue with AI-generated music?+
Yes. A visible timing structure can be used as a reference when generating or briefing music, rather than requiring the music to determine the structure of the edit.
Do I need to understand music theory?+
No. ClearCue translates timing relationships into visual structures you can work with directly.
Which editing software is supported?+
TimeVisualiser exports standard MP4 TimeObjects, so they can be used in any modern NLE that supports MP4 media, including DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro.
We recommend using Resolve for best performance (markers on the TimeObject clip).
Why is DaVinci Resolve recommended?+
TimeVisualiser can take advantage of Resolve's marker support as well as standard visual timing guides, giving Resolve users additional ways to work with the generated structure.
What does TimeVisualiser generate?+
TimeVisualiser generates reusable MP4 TimeObjects containing visible timing markers (Resolve). These can be placed on your timeline, duplicated, moved, stacked, and reused like other media.
What is the duration/length of a TimeObject?+
TimeObjects have a length of 15s. As they are MP4s, they can be copied and repeated like any video clip.
Do the TimeObjects contain audio?+
They include a click reference, allowing the timing structure to be heard as well as seen. In Final Cut or Premiere, use the frame-accurate transients to place markers.
Can I reuse a TimeObject?+
Yes. Once generated, a TimeObject is a reusable media file. You can use it throughout an edit wherever that timing structure is useful.
Do I need a subscription?+
No. ClearCue uses pay-as-you-go credits for TimeVisualiser generations, so you only pay when you generate a new timing guide.
How many free TimeObjects do I get?+
A free account includes 5 reusable TimeObject generations so you can explore the workflow before buying credits.
Do credits expire?+
No. Purchased credits do not expire.
Is ClearCue AI?+
No. ClearCue's timing tools are deterministic. They use well-defined mathematical relationships to analyse and generate timing structures rather than relying on generative AI.
Can ClearCue be used alongside AI tools?+
Yes. ClearCue is independent of how your picture, sound or music is created. Its role is to make timing structure explicit, so that structure can also be used as an input or reference for other tools.
